More than a decade has passed since the beginning of the JET Program(me). During this time, there have been numerous successes in the field of team-teaching and cross-cultural awareness between ALTs and JTEs. There have also been problems regarding differences in teaching ideologies and culture.
East Meets West: Problems and Solutions--Understanding Misunderstandings between JTEs and ALTs offers answers to frequently asked questions by both ALTs and JTEs, and possible solutions to problems the teachers encounter in their team-teaching positions. The areas covered in the book range from the mundane to the extraordinary.
Some of the topics included are: A Non-Smoking ALT in a Smoking Office / The Know-it-All, Done-it-All ALT / Vacation Days vs Sick Days / Lack of Discipline in the Classroom / The Ghost of the ALT Past / and many more.
