Talk, Talk: American-Style! is a course for intermediate students of English based on situational dialogues. Each lesson is packed with everyday, useful American-English expressions and idioms that are interesting in context and practical in nature.
Each of the 20 lessons is made up of 8 sections:
The DIALOGUE introduces the key language in a typical American-style conversation.
The VOCABULARY EXPANSION section gives useful definitions and example sentences of the key words and phrases introduced in the dialogue.
The COMPREHENSION portion tests students' understanding of the dialogue.
The MINI-DIALOGUES section presents four short dialogues that recycle the key language of the lesson. Students listen, then role-play for speaking practice.
The MATCHING exercise challenges students to choose the appropriate response to different statements.
The IN-CLASS PRACTICE activity incorporates two conversations that students rearrange (before checking the tape for the correct order) and role-playing the dialogues.
EXTENDED PRACTICE allows students to create their own dialogues for various situations.
Finally, CULTURAL CLOSE-UP wraps up the lesson with a reading section that provides a window into American culture.
